Arc Electrical Inc.

A friend wanted a site up pretty quickly, that had some advanced features. For guests to the site, the features include: multi-page forms, broken down into easy steps; an integrated WordPress blog, where Bill can answer technical questions, and easy-access popout menus for the services Bill offers. Mouse over the 'Services' tab to see what I mean.

From a site admin point of view, there is an easy interface to add/edit service offerings. The design of every service page is editable in a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor. Also, in case services shift priorities, there is an interactive list of services, which the admin can simply reorder, and changes are done via AJAX, instantly.

Arc Electrical Inc. - Redesign

While the site above is great, Bill wanted a slightly different look. This one is more of a blues and greens theme, with some dynamic animation occuring on the menu. At the moment, it works best in FireFox, but it degrades gracefully in Internet Explorer.

An Informational Matrix

A client wished to be able to keep a services list for their clients - nearly a hundred of them. The easiest way of storing that would be in a database, and the easiest way of showing it, I found, was to create a services matrix.

Each member company has the ability to add or delete services or contacts from their company. In addition, they have the option of adding a custom description to any service they've offered. They can edit contact data, as well as company-wide data.

The end user has the ability to drill down to the specific service they're interested in viewing, simply by choosing a category, then choosing a service option in that category. The company list this generates is actually retrieved on the fly, via AJAX.

Additionally, the end user can search the entire database for a keyword, be it a contact name, a company a service title or a custom description. All are searched, and the results tabulated and returned.

Design Test from Comp

One client I applied to sent me an image they'd built in Photoshop, and wanted to see a page built based on that. Four hours later, this is what I came up with. The reasons for this are primarily two: how accurate a representation of the graphic can be made, and how sloppy are the styles that comprise the page. Check it out, and let me know what you think!
